A snapshot of our achievements.
In the last two years we have contributed half a million dollars to South Gippsland health services.
In the last ten years we have shared and invested over one million dollars.
The Foundation funds public health projects in the South Gippsland area. It receives funds from bequests, donations, and fundraising efforts. The Foundation builds on the unique character and social connection of the South Gippsland community. Our community's desire to help and connect shows up everywhere. People in our area volunteer at 50% above the state average, and 70% of local people feel they can get help from a neighbour, compared with the state average of only 55%. This makes us all proud.
However, health providers in the area recognise that we continue to face health and wellbeing challenges as a community. We are older and ageing with 50% of people being over 47 and 24% being over 65. We have higher rates of chronic illness and mental distress than the Victorian average. Higher rates of smoking and poor nutrition are also preventable factors driving poorer health outcomes in our community.

We are fortunate to have a unique Health Precinct, with a top-class Hospital, a vital community health service, respected residential aged care and an ever-contributing medical centre. The proximity has assisted in creating an enviable, highly professional and co-dependent healthcare service for our community. Like all health services across the state, they are under pressure. The Foundation supports their efforts and it needs your help to keep doing this work.
