We’re in your Corner.
Join us to make a difference.
Let’s be in our health corner together.
Making a difference to our community’s health.
A story of generosity, community, and contribution.
Our Corner Inlet community is unique in its character and social connection. We feel it and value it. Our desire to help and connect shows up everywhere. As part of the South Gippsland Shire, we volunteer at 50% above the state average, and 70% feel we can get help from a neighbour (the state average is only 55%!). Makes us all proud.
However, we continue to face health and wellbeing challenges as a community. We are older and aging (50% of us are over 47 and 24% are over 65). We have higher rates of chronic illness and mental distress than the Victorian average. Higher rates of smoking and poor nutrition are also preventable factors driving poorer health outcomes in our community.

We are fortunate to have a top-class hospital, community health service, residential aged care and medical centre in our Corner Inlet area. But like all health services across the state, they are under pressure, and a new set of possibilities exist for future healthcare services that continue to orient to the person, their home (wherever that may be), their wellbeing and life priorities.
South Gippsland Community Health Foundation was founded with the locally recognised volunteering spirit to enhance healthcare in our community. In the last two years we contributed $274,000 to help the South Gippsland Hospital purchase Banksia Lodge, $175,000 to fit out three new rooms at Prom Coast Aged Care and over $100,000 to the Hospital for purchase of equipment.
10 years on, we have an even bolder ambition: To create a community movement can advance everyone’s health and well-being.
Our bold ambition
To create a community movement that will advance everyone’s health and wellbeing in the South Gippsland Community.

Care for Everyone
To care for everyone. All 6,000 of us. We have three bold initiatives.
THE MOVEMENT
We are building a community membership that connects and understands the care needs, gaps and priorities of our residents, and amplifies our volunteering capacity and spirit. We aspire to have the majority of our community engaged, and therefore representative of the community voice and need. We can be the exemplar of a community that cares.
THE MONEY
We will expand our financial sources and build financial capacity to support the care needs and priorities of our community into the future. This will include seeking to diversify sources, attract commitments over time, and co-investment partnerships. We have a high annual fundraising aspiration to distribute to important projects and we’ll have an emergency fund for times that we face the unexpected like a pandemic, flood or fire.
THE METHOD
We have a Board and organisation that is continually adapting. We are equipped with the necessary skills and governance to manage The Movement and The Money. We aspire, as our capacity grows, to develop a minimal organisational capability to sustainably manage and grow our impact into the future. We will develop and fund projects and programs that are both a gap and a priority for health and care in our community. And we will measure and communicate the impact and story of every project and program.
OUR UNIQUE WAY
We are a unique place and community. We love our independence. We care. South Gippsland Community Health Foundation is an expression of this. We will represent the voices of all in the community and so
We listen first, always
We’re trusting, respectful and open
We’re bold unrelenting in our quest
We delight in differences
The ask: Join us now to become a welcomed community supporter. There’s lots you can do (and it’s not just about money!)
